2) When you list SFUHS as your alma mater on LinkedIn, you unlock a wealth of networking capabilities! Follow these easy steps to associate yourself with the SFUHS LinkedIn page:

1. Log on to LinkedIn
2. Click on "Me" in the top menu
3. Click "View Profile" from the drop-down menu
4. Scroll down to the Education section of your profile and click on the "+"
5. Type "San Francisco University High School" and then click on it
6. Enter your class year if you'd like
7. Click Save!

3) Use the search capability on the SFUHS LinkedIn page to connect with alumni in your chosen field/location.

4) Connect on LinkedIn with Marianna Stark '89, director of alumni engagement and giving, and exponentially expand your 2nd and 3rd degree connections to UHS alumni.

The UHS & Breakthrough Summerbridge Annual Fund not only provides dollars for the daily operating budget, a well-supported Annual Fund enables the school to “say yes” to new initiatives, projects, and programming each year. Gifts to the UHS Annual Fund provide the greatest flexibility in funding the school's most immediate needs. Click here to make a gift to the UHS and Breakthrough Summerbridge Annual Fund.

The Student Endowment for Financial Aid (SEFA) was created by the 2003-2004 UHS Student Council Student Diversity Committee to support the school’s financial aid program. The endowment was designed to give students at UHS a part in promoting equity within their own community, a tradition that continues to thrive in many ways today.

Two gifts were made that year to launch the fund, one from the student group Moving on Racial Equality, and the other from the Class of 2004, announced at their commencement ceremony. Endowed funds are retained and invested for income-producing purposes. Income generated by SEFA is restricted to financial assistance for current students. Last year, 99 of 410 University students received $3.2M in financial aid, from SEFA and the Annual Fund.

While the majority of alumni gifts are directed toward the UHS and Summerbridge Annual Fund, alumni have also generously supported Financial Aid, the Connect.Invent.Design campaign, and the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. During the fiscal year 2019-2020, alumni donations to all funds totaled $395,548 from 9.5% of alumni. We are grateful to our alumni for their support. View alumni donors.

Annual contributions of $1,000 or more through any of the school’s funds, including the UHS and Breakthrough Summerbridge Annual Fund, the Decorator Showcase, and the Next Level Campain, establish and sustain membership in this special group, founded in 2013

The Alumni Leadership Circle also includes alumni who served as trustees of our school in the past.

If you get three or more alums together for pizza (or any other favorite food), send us a photo of the group and a photo of the restaurant check and we'll pick up the bill, up to $50 max. One submission per alum per year, please. Submit reimbursement request using this form.

In spring 2018, the Alumni Association launched an affinity group for LGBTQIA alumni, current & former faculty, and allies. The purpose of the group is to encourage fellowship and support in the UHS LGBTQIA alumni community, nurture a network for professional and charitable opportunities, and provide and promote positive role models to UHS students. The group will start out in virtual mode and grow over time. So far, over three dozen alums have signed up. 

Honorary Chair Katie Hultquist ’92 hosted the group’s first get together at SFMOMA’s Café 5 on May 31, 2018. 

A dozen alums turned out, representing every era of UHS, plus two former faculty members, Bruce Lamott and Vicky Hierro, and current faculty member Ariel Traiber, now in his 19th year at UHS.  Everyone was able to introduce themselves to the full group and connect on a personal level.

 “Although I didn’t come out until college, I still remember the panel about LGBT acceptance and awareness when I was a junior, and the faculty who spoke.  Having faculty members who were out and proud and a school culture that embraced this diversity is something that made a huge difference for me in accepting myself and I’ll always be grateful for that.  I also believe that UHS’s commitment to the wider community and helping students think about how they can contribute is something that set me on the path of activism and community support that has formed the basis of my career and life.”

Katie is looking for a few people to help lead a steering committee for the group from a diversity of identities, ages, and cultural backgrounds.  This group will recommend further ways to reach out to the UHS LGBTQIA community, the best way for the group to communicate, and plan future meetups.

Katie is the West Coast director of OutRight Action International, which works to advance the human rights of LGBTI people around the world. Katie lives in Seattle with her wife and three kids.
